The only one weakening our borders is DONALD TRUMP.
Until this summer, border crossings under policies of Obama (both proactive [preventive] and reactive [remedial]) were successful in bringing the numbers to a 40-year low.
Successful proactive policies under Obama included aid to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras and ending American interference in their elections. While deeply inadequate, they helped ease some of the horrific conditions that had been allowed to metastasize out of the policies of Reagan in the 1980’s.
TRUMP ENDED THE OBAMA AID and, within weeks, border crossings exploded to sudden new record highs. Cause and effect.
Open borders? NO! Instead of worthless ego projects on the border, Democrats have proposed AND VOTED TO FUND, to the tune of $1.3 BILLION dollars, real border security that would be effective, which I enumerate in the reply that follows:
Both Beto O’Rouke (April, June) and Miss Ocasio-Cortez (June) have used the term ‘open border’ and called for a ‘borderless’ America. As Goethe said, ‘there is nothing more dangerous than aggressive ignorance.’
I’m not making a policy proposal here, just trying to think things through. Within the US there are open borders. A person from New York can visit or even more to Colorado without being stopped at a border and without showing a passport. But a person from Mexico can’t come to the US without being stopped, and can’t move to the US without going through a lengthy process. What’s the difference? Well, of course, the difference is that the person from the US is a US citizen, and the person from Mexico isn’t. But what difference does that make? What difference does citizenship make? Why not have borders at state lines? (It’s been done, sort of, by the way, back in the day.) Just curious to see how people answer.
so, mike, when are you going to address the employers that hire undocumented workers? they are breaking the law. but i guess you like soft targets, too.
HEY RAMIREZ, GET A F’ING CLUE!!!! Stop spreading the B.S. for f’s sake. At least be honest if you’re going to say anything. You have zoomed past ridiculous right into absurd!
Ramirez has to be some kind of schizo: About 80% of the time he draws a great image and uses it to lie, divide, incite or otherwise (try to) hurt us. Another approximately 18% of the time, he uses it to enlighten, focus or occasionally poke fun. About 2% of the time, it’s not a great image.

Michael Ramirez is lying. Again.
NO ONE HAS PROPOSED OPEN BORDERS. That is a LIE.

When you can’t say anything useful about real issues, turn to the worn out false tropes.

I admit my comment is an opinion. So many of the commenters’ opinions are posing as answers… without any sources cited.

Give it up, Mr. Ramirez. If Donald Trump wanted to give you a job he would have done so long ago.

Ramirez, you don’t need an open door on that submarine. A screen door would be just as “funny”.
