Don’t worry, Republicans will stop anything sensible from ever happening.

They will end Medicare for you so they can pay off their socialist tax breaks for billionaires program.

This is an able collection of health care cliches, but does nothing to address the problem.

Sadly, just after WW2, American was considering Universal Health Care at the same time the European countries were.

But, American Corporations were having trouble finding Skilled Workers as the Economy Boomed.

So, they began offering Employee Health Care as a “Benefit” and told Congress not to mess with Health Care because it would have made their “Recruiting Tool” obsolete.

All the first world nations provide accessible health care for all. Every single one.

Thus, the USA is not a first world nation.

Enjoying the color and apparent gender of the person signing the bill. And the ages of the onlookers (particularly that one guy in the rear)

But But But….Canada!!! Sorry folks. It’s not all that and you don’t get the chips.

    https://www.fraserinstitute.org/studies/waiting-your-turn-wait-times-for-health-care-in-canada-2018

“Specialist physicians surveyed report a median waiting time of 19.8 weeks between referral from a general practitioner and receipt of treatment—shorter than the wait of 21.2 weeks reported in 2017. This year’s wait time is 113% longer than in 1993, when it was just 9.3 weeks.”

“Patients also experience significant waiting times for various diagnostic technologies across the provinces. This year, Canadians could expect to wait 4.3 weeks for a computed tomography (CT) scan, 10.6 weeks for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, and 3.9 weeks for an ultrasound.”

    10 weeks for an MRI.

The bill that Obama was finally able to get through congress and sign was a diluted version of his original intent, and contained provisions that created problems in actually making it work. It did, however, completely change the narrative. Before Obamacare, we argued about whether anything to provide insurance should exist. Now we argue about the form it should take. That in itself is a huge step in accomplishing something that Democrats have been fighting for since the New Deal.

Pres.Obama had it right. He set up an insurance payment system with regulations governing the insurance marketplace. What we need is simply a preventative healthcare plan that would pay for doctors visits, prescription drugs and outpatient surgeries (of which there are many.) This would take care of the younger citizens easily and the rest of us mostly. The insurance companies would enter in to the program with supplemental plans and separate cadillac plans for those that could afford them.
