The ‘G’ looks like it’s on an octagon shape, which is the shape used exclusively for a stop sign. Since the ‘I’ sign is a circle (and circles are used for Railroad crossing and advance warning), I’d say that the advance warning was for the cliff and was kind of ignored by our noble steed…
After thinking about it, perhaps the I sign was drawn that way so that it would not crowd the H sign or appear to be between the G and H sign… Samson, we need help here…!
