I never liked that book. Can anyone explain the appeal, or why anyone would think it’s appropriate for children? Same questions apply for The Little Prince.

That has to be Silverstein’s worst book. The message seems to be that the “givers” should just keep giving to the “takers” until there’s nothing left to give. And then maybe they’ll be happy? As they die?

I read “The Giving Tree” a few years ago, I don’t remember any of it and I’m happy about that.
