Yeah, that was my thought too, I’m having more trouble around perimenopause than I ever had with periods.
I don’t mean to be dismissive. We shouldn’t normalize painful, symptomatic periods. I think storylines like this make girls (and boys) feel these symptoms s are normal and not something to bring attention to. That causes needless suffering when they don’t get treated. My initial point was only that many girls have no symptoms, so we shouldn’t drill into them fear and an expectation of suffering.
Tto reassure any girls out there reading this, for most it’s not like this. For most it’s really a not big deal. Just be sure to have pads on hand, because bleeding through your pants turns it into a big deal.
