Uh, little problem here. The Maltese Falcon was shot in 1942, general release was 1943, after the North African campaign had started.

I take note that the artwork from these years back, is more detailed and at a higher proficiency. Interesting. Of course; to be fair, all comic artwork evolves over years. Just something I have always noticed. Neither good, nor bad; just interesting. Although; sometimes it makes me wonder what triggers the evolution. Perhaps age?

Lots of Americans were serving with Allied forces in Europe before the USA discovered what isolation had wrought. In the 40’s 2.6 % of the population was Latino.

Well, no one in the trump family would serve. Someone had to stand up and do the right thing. True patriots.

At some point in my life, long ago, I started reading obituaries, and very early on I was impressed by the number of Hispanic men whose service for this country was proudly listed, and whose photo was of them in the uniform of this country.

My first tacos were in shells made and sold at Tony’s Hero Street Grocery in Silvis, IL. Hero Street is a two-block Mexican neighborhood, so renamed because more residents of that street were killed in action during WWII and Korea than any other street in America. Not per capita – total.
