Understand that my generation had it share of weird hair styles (the “mullet” was already mentioned), but, seriously folks, “manbuns”, “ponytails”, “Manchu queues” and the like, just look silly; as do untrimmed beards.
Here’s the real bottom line (which Pierpoint DOESN’T have to worry about). Unless you’re the CEO of a major company, in a job market where individual creativity is treasured or you’re retired, you MUST consider your appearance vis-a-vis a perspective employer. Weird hairstyles, tattoos and turning your body into a “pincushion” does not appeal to most H.R. types. And as long as you have to bow to the will of “The Man”, such things count!
