But don’t join it too soon. Time the start of impeachment proceedings so that voters with short memory spans will still remember Trump’s crimes in November of next year. Speaker Pelosi knows what she’s doing.

Interesting options. Which one does Speaker Pelosi choose? I’m guessing it’s not “join.”

Impeachment doesn’t make sense from a political standpoint for the Democrats. Trump is not able to accomplish anything with a Democratic House, except by executive order. Those can be overturned the first day a Democrat sits in the oval office. Impeaching Trump gives us Pense, who is not a nice person, but appears to be sane, at least in comparison to Trump. It also makes him the incumbent president and would allow things to settle down politically. That means low voter turnout for 2020 which favors Republicans. There is also the problem that the House can impeach, probably by sometime this afternoon. But, then the impeachment would go to the Republican controlled Senate, where he would be found innocent, despite truckloads of evidence to the contrary. Once he had been declared innocent, the general public would assume that he was, or at least that his guilt was doubtful. The other option is to let the investigations go on, arrest anyone who gives sufficient reason, record evidence and make it public and let the voters feel like if no one is DC is going to fix this mess, it’s up to them to get out and vote them out, creating a large 2020 voter turnout, of people who have been hearing bad stuff about the Republicans for a few years now. Nancy didn’t get where she is by being stupid. Your frustration that she isn’t impeaching Trump is working in the Democrat’s favor. She knows what she is doing.

Partisanship, the root cause of our federal government’s inability to function, is far more important than impeaching a dysfunction president that most Americans strongly disapprove of. We need to have a proactive Congress, POTUS, and SCOTUS that work for we the people not for the wealthy, corporations, or political ideologies that exclude large swaths of the population. Until we fix the flaws that have allowed this extreme divisive dysfunction, it will persist and perpetuate itself. No party or individual must ever be able to disrupt, for their own private self-interests, the proactive will of the people to continually improve our unity, prosperity, and freedoms. We seem to have Congress after Congress unwilling to let go of personal private ideals and instead, actually cooperate/compromise on behalf of the nation and all of its people. We must have an exemplary Congress admired like Apple not despised like Comcast. If we do not fix the problem there will be a long line of successors that are the same as or worse than the resident is.

Benjamin Franklin would hide his face in shame were he to see this twisting of his work.

In the beginning there were NO parties. They wrote the Constitution thinking that the Congress would work together.

If we truly cared about America we would be pushing for Congress to unite, not mocking the Democrats.

Nancy is correct in waiting; all it would do right now is provide this sack of reeking rat dung (thanks Diamond Lil) the opportunity to decry that the Democrats ‘hate me/poor me’. No, the ultimate humiliation is when he’s kicked out on that fat orange keister by the landslide that’s in store.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Trump has committed not only impeachable offenses but criminal offenses as well. Still, I would not want to see him impeached. As stated, the impeachment of Trump is the right thing to do morally and patriotically. But…there will be a heavy cost to pay politically if impeachment is attempted. In the unlikely event that Trump would be impeached, we would have Pence. He would be even worse than Trump, because (a) he has a measurable i.q. (b) he is not cracker-jack crazy and © he knows his way around politics, when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em.

Another negative of a Trump impeachment is that it will stir up the far right, neo-nazis, white supremacists, Mormons, and Steve Bannon, into becoming violent.

For America’s sake, wait until he is out of office, uncover every criminal act he has ever done (of which there are very many) and send him and his children to prison for the rest of their lives.

I totally agree that no one could reasonably believe that Trump is not guilty of lots and lots of stuff. The problem is that I know a bunch of people who UNreasonably believe it. And, a whole bunch of other people who are marginally interested and would believe that the news reports, in which Trump would declare that since the senate found him innocent he is pure as the driven snow. The idea that it is the moral, patriotic, honorable thing to impeach him because he is obviously guilty makes some sense. It makes more sense to believe that it is the moral, patriotic, honorable thing to do what is best for this country, and setting Trump up to be declared innocent by the senate is not in the best interests of this country.
