Of course Democrats know the difference. But let’s follow the Republican playbook, pretend they DON’T know the difference, and then criticize them for not knowing.
The Republicans know the difference between Voter fraud and Voter Suppression? Right?
The First is the extremely rare issue of a person voting that should not.
The Second is the systemic and conspiratorial often VERY successful attempt to intimate the voters through threats of prison, aimed at your political enemies ( or in Trumps case your racial enemies).
The question is do conservatives understand the difference between blind unyielding enforcement of legal technicalities and showing compassion for fellow human beings caught in a desperate struggle for survival.
You mean, like the “founding fathers” knew that it was immoral that they were invading a foreign country without asking and killing the people already living there? Or that the US government knew it was against international law to invade or annex Florida, Hawaii, the Phillipines, Colombia (Panama), Grenada, Iraq etc.? But exactly these people are your celebrated heroes… and now you say, people coming into your country, unarmed, looking for work, without an official permit, are very bad people and you call them illegal immigrants?
If Publicans know the difference between “illegal immigrants” and “asylum seekers”, I’ve seen no evidence of it. (“Publicans” include ICE officers and border patrol.)
Also, it’s a good idea to remember that small children brought here by parents are not breaking any law. Their status may be illegal, but they are guilty of no wrong-doing. (Unlike our proudly felonious President, who seems to relish breaking his word and everything else.)

Paraphrasing tiny…“Who knew immigration was so complicated?”
Ramirez is simplistic to the point of true idiocy.

Do you really think trump understands the concept of legal immigration?

Ramirez deflects from “Mexico will pay for the Wall” and “China pays the Tariffs!”
[ Appears that Ramirez is an willing, eager accomplice for #45’s reelection campaign! ]

Yeah, the difference is that businesses like, say Trump enterprises, will hire illegals without blinking an eye.
Except when they “legally” bring in “legals” to work at places like Mar-a-lago.
.
The proliferation of H-1 visas is nothing but a “legal” way to bring in low paid immigrants to cut labor costs.
Trump Disciples like Ramirez are the ones who cannot discern the similarities.
.
Analysis skills.
