And that’s how Bis hopes to make his marck.

    .

(I should be ashamed to admit this, but this is sort of how I remember these two capitals.)

Wow…. Dan may actually have been to South Dakota.

He passed one of those “insider” tests….

by seeming to know that South Dakotans pronounce the name of their capital as though it were spelled “P-E-E-R.”

Funny how many of those there are….

You can brand yourself an outsider by saying “He-lee’-na” Montana…

Here in California, by not knowing that La Jolla is pronounced with Spanish style consonants…. ie “La HOY-a”, never “La JOLL-a” …

but San Rafael is Americanised to “San Ra-FELL”

Lots of hooting and guffaws over BJ Honeycutt, on M*A*S*H, saying he was from a small town in California called “Pet-AL’-yuma.”

Everybody in N. CA knows it’s the city of "Pet-a-LU’-ma.

We Iowans invented the caucuses just to laugh at presidential wannabes who try to pronounce “Nevada” and “Madrid”.

On Jeapardy last week two contestants guessed Rapid City is in Iowa and Michigan. The third one had no clue.

South Dakota has two capitals, s and d.

Take care and may God bless.

I’ve been in 49 of the states. When I lived in Aberdeen, South Dakota (teaching at Northern State Univ), I wanted to drive 31 miles north, cross the border into North Dakota, so I could say I’ve been in all 50 states. Never did it, though. I regret that.

I have a feeling that “Susan Sunshine” is the person who set up Go Comics. Am I correct? I get a lot of enjoyment out of looking at the 60 comics I read every day…sometimes, I even read the ones with an earlier date.
