A vicious circle isn’t it.. And in the meantime you are causing generations of hate and a determination of revenge. Heck.. even at home the rift caused by the various skirmishes.. civil war.. Native Americans.. war with Mexico.. slavery.. to name just a few, are still causing problems.
I opposed sending our military into the Middle East back before Desert Storm in 1990. I opposed keeping troops there, and I vehemently opposed the illegal invasion of Iraq by Bush/Cheney. We had every right and reason to go to Afghanistan and overthrow the Taliban. But Bush/Cheney dropped that ball and al Qaeda grew. The killing of bin Laden and near extermination of al Qaeda by Obama’s direction was needed and necessary. ISIL grew out of the remnants of al Qaeda, all fueled by the Saudi Wahhabi. The Saudi Royals cannot control them, and might even secretly support them, but they are the extremists who attacked us.
By not finishing the job, completely defeating the enemy we engage, we will have situations that require continued troop deployment. That’s the fact, not some silly pundit’s dream.
The validity of this comic is all in the 3rd panel. It’s all based on a myth. Not facts.
