I used to be the buffer between the board and my team. Of course, that didn’t mean loose deadlines – just realistic ones and less stress. I remember and cherish how we got 5 news websites up and running in 3 months, each with its own separate language editorial teams. This despite the fact that two sites were JSP and three were PHP, with an overall corporate identity for all page designs. I was just the editor of the English site and knew nothing of coding and design. Good times – good team.
When the suits at a bank I was working for wanted to go online, they gave us two months. Did it in 59 days. Back when people were overjoyed to get realtime data and didn’t care much about the format.
