While I was waiting in the doctor’s office I overheard the receptionist asking a patient for her Medicare card. The woman apparently handed her the old one with the SSN, because she asked for the new one, with what I call a “generic” number.
“Oh, that. I threw it away. They only issued those so Obama could give illegals health care. I’m a citizen and I use the REAL card.”
I could almost hear the receptionist roll her eyes.

Why do I get carded each time? Each time the receptionist says “We have changed our system, and have to reenter the information.” Really?

I’m nearly 69 and get carded at the liquor store and occasionally at restaurants. I always tell them when they ask for ID, that they just made my day.
