With very few exceptions for a few valid reasons (some redactions may be valid for the general public, but there should be NO REDACTIONS as submitted to committees under public seal — as to Grand Jury testimony, the House committees and Barr should obtain the usual judicial waiver that is common in this kind of case), Barr’s heavy use of redactions is because he knows the truth hurts his client: DONALD TRUMP.
His client is SUPPOSED TO BE “we the people,” with the White House Counsel designed to represent the interests of the office of the presidency and Trump hiring his own private attorneys to represent his personal interests.
But Barr has made it clear that he is the defender of Trump, not us.
So who speaks for us — we the people — now?
If impeachment is too problematic in a corrupt Senate, perhaps the best step is to appeal to the American Bar Association to have William Barr disBARRed for ethics violations and probable criminal involvement.
I am trudging through the report (WaPo publisher) and I must say often my mind wanders. The print is tiny and it’s been a long time since I’ve read reports… info instead of interest. I will continue even tho’ I’ll probably not finish until the turn of the century. Little nuggets on almost every page.
I think it is about time for Mueller to stand for America and leak the report. Sworn to defend America.. it may be time to risk career and possible prison time and do the right thing.
Let me tell you, if that were ME, spent 2 years of my life working on a report to take down a rotten president, I would have SENT and or presented the unredacted report to all the major newspapers and TV networks so there would be the TRUTH AND NOT HALF TRUTHS REGARDING THE INVESTIGATIONS! Now who do you think would win the 2020 election NOW? GOP be damned with your obstructionist EVIL!
Hey, Clay, I really enjoyed your blog on the Herblock awards ceremony, and I totally agree that you guys are a lifeline for those of us overwhelmed by all the s—-weasels (to use your and my favorite term for them) in today’s political scene. Thanks!
