This reminds me of my psychic great aunt who could read minds of people passing by. She was eventually driven to life as a recluse because she couldn’t bear the incessant barrage of negative thoughts.
As a carnivore that may eat carrion, a lot of those smells are like flowers to humans. Humans are primarily fruit eaters so we find favor with smells associated with fruits (flowers and fruits) while dogs like animals smells (rotting flesh, pee, urine etc.) So Chas may have a problem with those smells that Poncho would have liked.
