I’ve been on DST since 1985. Daylight hangs around a bit later in December and helps with SAD. I don’t miss it in the mornings as it is usually bright by the time I get up. The biggest inconvenience is the late hour of the evening news on TV.

I’m one of those who is a morning person so I HATE DST. Just as the mornings are getting bright they yank it away from us. Two days ago, a little local girl was killed at the bus stop because the SUV didn’t see her in the dark. Schools don’t start later to adjust for the darkness, leaving kids vulnerable. DST actually began during the 20th century during WWI supposedly to save fuel. (Not sure how, but…whatever). Time to eliminate it!

I believe we should observe daylight savings time every DAY at 4:00pm.

3 bills in US Congress now to basically move the entire country to the equivalent of Year Round Daylight Saving Time. http://TimeZoneReport.com

Those of us in the Northern climates tend to appreciate DST more than those in the south. Our day length variation is far wider and the ability to have the longer daylight by the clock buoys (at least my) the spirits.

I would be in favor of having DST be the standard… and then in the Spring adopting DDST….. double daylight savings time. :)

I don’t prefer daylight savings (what a misnomer) or standard, I just wish we would choose one and stick with it.

We only tend to think of this in relation to various jobs or to our own inconveniences. But one of the more cogent explanations I’ve heard was a Congressional member supporting the concept, as providing more daylight, and thus greater safety, for children going to and from school. I suppose it might make more sense at some latitudes than others…?

Is daylight an endangered species? Why do we need to save it?

Actually, we’re in DST right now. Winter is standard time. (Which is ironic, because you’d think you need to save daylight when it’s in short supply. But nope. It was really implemented to reduce nighttime light bills by moving a morning hour, when the sun comes up too damn early, to the evening.)

If DST is observed year-round, it’s not DST anymore. It just becomes the new standard time.

A person on the eastern edge of a time zone is a “sun hour” different from a person on the west edge. Just pick a number and keep it all year. People will adjust.

On the next change, why don’t we just change the clocks one-half an hour AND THEN LEAVE THINGS THERE!

Personally, just work an hour ahead part of the year, then slack for an hour the rest…
