At seven and a half billion, I don’t think the population of humans on earth is in any danger of annihilation soon. Let’s save Civilization and work on how to reduce the number of people .. by a lot. To post a political comment to the contrary has no foundation.
We have subsidized an industry making trillions of dollars that promoted the damage, and that continues to accelerate towards a sixth extinction. All in the name of ExxonMobil and Trumpanzees.
You keep chugging along, Mike! You’re almost there!
I know you’re an old man, I know you heard all about the Population Explosion that was big talk in the 70’s. You think that it went away?
There are too many people. We live in the most wasteful ways imaginable. Most of us are ignorant fools.
You think having MORE people is the solution?
The human race is going to start living longer, healthier lives soon. We had better start thinking of ways of living more reasonably, more realustically, less stupidly.
I guess it’s an international conspiracy against US Republican ideology?

The United States isn’t alone in this birth rate conundrum.
Developed countries such as Greece, Spain, and Japan have been dealing with steadily declining birth rates for decades.
In fact, Japan has its lowest birth rate in history.
In 2018, the country had 921,000 births but 1.37 million deaths. That was 25,000 fewer births than in 2017 — and the lowest number recorded for the Pacific island nation since it began keeping records in 1899.
Japanese government officials have made an effort in recent years to encourage Japanese families to have more children. So far, their efforts don’t appear to be working.
In South Korea, a similar picture is unfolding.
That country’s population will begin decreasing over the next 10 years, as deaths outpace births. There, the government has stepped in with cash subsidies and changes to workweek hours to help couples accommodate raising families. Their efforts also seem to be ineffective.
Mr. Lester (and the rest of you morons, oxy or otherwise): It’s quite feasible to save the world, reduce carbon pollution and increase human health and happiness for those who are born by reducing the rate of human population growth. We have several decades of experience about how to do that: Every culture that moves from “no TV” to “TVs in each housing unit” experiences a sharp decline in the birth rate. And the birth rate always spikes about 9 months after a big power outage. Yup: Babies happen when people make their own entertainment.
Take the entire human population of the earth, give them a square yard or meter to stand in, and calculate how large an area it would take for everyone to stand together in one place.
Then do the same, but give each person 3 acres to live on, 2 of fertile ground to grow food and raise a few farm animals, and an acre of land to build a house on.
Did this many years ago, and was flabbergasted at the result.
The simple fact is, there’s probably plenty of room for people and for raising food. Under the right circumstances, the United States alone could easily feed the world.
The problem as I see it, are corrupt world governments that are more concerned about power and money, than they are about their people.

Just cross out “Human Race” and replace it with “Earth” in the word balloon. Much more honest.

Lester is right; if SOME people don’t have children, then ALL people will not have children. Black – White; there are no possible shades of grey here.

I read someplace – GoComics, maybe? – that if people killed each other at the rate we are killing animals, we’d be extinct in about two weeks.

If there’s one thing the world needs, it’s more people.

Otherwise our arrogance is going to kill us all.

She didn’t have to bother with a sign. Now that right-wing jihadism is going global, human’s numbers will be culled in no time.

China’s birth rate just hit a 70-year low, too.

As we all know, the best (only?) way to ensure the survival of a balloon is to keep pumping more air into it.
All reports of “exploding” balloons are “fake news”.
