Seriously, the little dog is doing it right! When approached by an animal predator (wolf/bear/cougar/whatever), CONFRONT him! Make yourself look as large as possible, and make as much loud, angry noise as you can. Throw rocks, sticks, whatever, at him and do NOT give in! Don NOT act like prey – like Rufus is now doing!
