I saw a sign once that said something like ‘If you’ve come to see a clean house, make an appointment ~~ if you’ve come to see me, come anytime’. Most family and friends don’t come over with their white gloves on…………even though my mother-in-law always did.
The only time I clean up for company is when it’s time to renew the lease. My roommates do a little extra in the yard (they won’t let me, they use my vertigo as an excuse not to let me use power tools, BLEARGH!!), the floors get washed, flat surfaces get neatened up a bit, and reminders of any repairs done by my ex-maintenance supervisor roommate are displayed prominently. That’s as close to ‘clean house’ as I get. Oh, I might dust a bit, if dust bunnies are obvious.
Our landlord loves having tenants who can and will do any and all minor repairs!
