From what my parents told me, when I was a year old my brother took me to the top of the slide in our back yard (it was an old slide about twice as high as the ones they have now and none of the safety features like high sides and a protected ladder) he sat me down at the top of the slide thinking I’d slide down, but instead I fell over and went off the slide and fell all the way to the ground. No noticable injuries, but ever since that day, whenever I feel unsecure about my height, I can feel myself falling and see the ground coming at me. Over the years I’ve managed to get my fear under control enough to climb a short ladder without too much trouble, but anything more than six feet and I have a death grip on the nearest handhold.
