Lenny Bruce used to do a comedy routine about the Lone Ranger & Tonto that was eventually made into an animated cartoon with voices by Mr. Bruce. The title character was Mask Man. If you care to spend about 7 1/2 minutes, go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJiD3k2CE64
They say the reason the Lone Ranger and Tonto broke up was because the Lone Ranger finally found out what Kemosabe meant….. Any one know if that’s true?
Feathers were awarded by the tribal head man for actions of outstanding bravery or a similar achievement for the tribe, which might explain Tonto’s hesitancy in accepting the ranger’s gift of a feather.
Lone Ranger to Tonto, [as a band of screaming Indian warriors approached their campfire]: “Uhoh, looks like we’re in trouble now”. Tonto: “Who’s WE, paleface?”
