Well, we actually could quit spending billions and trillions of dollars on the military *S&^ which we do not need…..how many thousands of nuclear warheads do we have, I suspect a few hundred might do the job…oh never mind. (Former Defense Department employee, Fed Ex, er, ah ex Fed….
If I had the power to choose where my tax dollars are spent, then I would not mind a slightly higher tax rate. However, I doubt that any congress would ever trust the voters enough to allow it to happen.
I am a Medicare recipient, and I can tell you that it works very well. In theory, I prepaid for these health benefits via payroll taxes for decades, and I still pay for supplemental health and drug coverage now. I’m not complaining about any of that, just stating my credentials in an attempt to elevate the conversation: how can we get from a prepaid, payroll tax based healthcare system for seniors (with ongoing beneficiary fees) to a Medicare equivalent healthcare system for all? If someone can figure that out, and not reduce the benefits and effectiveness of the current system, Im all in.
^ Naw, like Health Insurance, I think we should be free to purchase our own personal police force and military. This paying for them out of the public purse is Venezuelian socialism.

Why not instead of Harris show BC/BS taking $20K(average family plan premium, 2019) out of his pocket?

May healthcare cost go high enough that Ramerez can not afford it. Like so many of us will be.

Another reason for the Revolution was fighting against a mad dictatorial ruler. Americans have forgotten that one too.

There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch. And eventually you run out of other peoples money.

Oh, I don’t think it’ll be anything as subtle as that, Mr. Ramirez. Whips, chains, and rubber hoses, more likely.
