Given that Schultz’s ONLY stated reason for not running as the Democrat he claims to be is to avoid more taxes on billionaires like him, I think this is what we call a “single-issue voter.” If he is stupid enough to run, then he will help guarantee that HIS billions will remain unscathed, by helping Trump or by (HAHAHAHA!) winning himself.
He also appears to be stunningly ignorant of the barriers existing for a third-party candidate, or perhaps he is just used to demanding whatever he wants — again, not really a candidate I would want for president.
Time to get rid of the dunce in chief. We are freezing here in the Midwest today. Trump thinks we should have more global warming to solve it. It is GW which has caused the polar vortex to break up and dip out, bringing us arctic air! That is what it is showing on all those nasty weather maps lately.
I’d really like to know WHY, as a self-admitted “life-long” democrat, Mr. Schultz would EVEN CONSIDER running as an independent.
The only way this makes ANY SENSE at all is if someone on the Trump side of the political equation (say, the Russians) showed Howard an overriding reason to run against “type”.
Unless Howard Schultz is as big a ‘moron’ as Trump is, he should realize that independent candidates have NEVER been anything other than a “spoiler” in Presidential elections – we have literally NEVER had a third-party President – American politics simply isn’t set up that way, and the hubris needed for him to believe he has a shot at the Presidency is monumental – just monumental!
Please candidates, work together to produce the strongest, most capable candidate so that we can rid the White House of the evil, scum-bag in the Oval Office. We badly need to restore civility and good judgement in the White House and Congress!
A theory: We already know Shultz does not favor tax increases for the rich or medicare for all. Perhaps his motive IS to siphon off some democratic voters and assure Trump’s reelection.

Overpriced, bad taste, snotty attitude, soon to be on every corner. Roast him. Another “I’m just like you!” billionaire.

Not sure of the appeal of Schultz to Dems, especially on the Left Coast. He could have minimum impact.

I could understand how he might be able to run if he was still CEO of Starbucks. “Vote for me, or I will withhold the Spice!”
