How about telling her the truth: Yes Honey. Your birdhouse is more “wobbly” than mine, but 1) the birds don’t care, and 2) the important thing is that you made one. You will be better with practise.

A lot of good family values this week; instead of conflicts. Thanks!

John shouldn’t have made his own birdhouse but rather “helped” Lizzie so it would have been something they made together. As a kid, I would feel like Liz….mine can’t measure up to my parent’s. Instead of feeling pride, I would feel “not good enough”. --Poetic justice would be for the birds to prefer Lizzie’s house!

The last bird house I built I put the hole on the back by mistake and had to replace the board. D’oh.

I put up a bat house and a woodpecker put a hole in the side for nesting.

Do not be so hard on yourself, Elizabeth. You paid much more attention to detail and invested more time and skill than those developers who cut corners like nobody’s business in making those shoddy “McMansions”.

If they do choose Dad’s house then we could understand a 1 million dollar investigation.

I know this storyline is about father daughter connecting, but i can’t stop myself from pointing out the following reality. Except for purple martins, most song birds won’t nest close to one another. So whichever birdhouse gets occupied first, the other probably will be ignored.
