Lesson one: File for divorce with reality.

Start by banging your head repeatedly into concrete.

I refuse to give in to despair and I will continue to teach my children to try to feel the same way. Things are better than they were in the ‘60s when I started to become more aware of the world around me. They aren’t improving as fast for some groups as for others but they are better across the board. Yes, there is a long way to go but it requires continued effort. Keep fighting the good fight. It’s worth it!

If you’re counting on a 401K to help you retire, I hope you’ve got a backup plan. 401Ks are a scam designed to put your retirement funds where the weasels in the financial industry can more easily help themselves. They’d get thrown in prison if they tried to steal your Social Security, which is why they’re all so eager to get rid of Social Security. But 401Ks are fair game.

Teach ted to be even more brainless.

I’m serious when I say I’ve never known a life that wasn’t one misfortune away from serious trouble. I know many people have more security; but there has always been people struggling and I’m just another one of them. I’m not particularly brave or optimistic; and I’m certainly not macho. Yet the character in this comic strikes me as just pathetic.

Only fools and drunks are happy 100% of the time. Doubt and worry are simply the price we pay for knowledge. Better to be a wary deer in the forest than a cow happily chewing its cud in front of the slaughterhouse.

In the information age you have to work hard to stay stupid.
