My wife and I had few immutable rules for our sons. The rest were choosing what battles to fight:
One was do not drink and drive. Stay put and call or call and we will pick you up – no questions asked. The first option was used on several occasions; we never did have to exercise the second option.
The other was to learn how to read. If you can read, you can learn how to do anything else.
Although I have to admit, sometimes YouTube videos are good for “seeing” how it is done. However, it is difficult to study subjects such as Greek Philosophy that way.

Library Patron: Could you show me where the Self Help books are? Librarian: That would defeat the purpose, wouldn’t it?

The good thing about self-help books are when you screw-up they won’t mock you.
