Disagree. Maybe I’m not a plugger after all. I was always taught to clean my plate (“Think of the starving children in China”). When there’s too much food, I overeat and leave feeling bloated, even if I can’t finish it all. A substantial portion is OK, but don’t go crazy overloading it.
Small cafe in Wisdom Montana was that way with their hamburger and fries. Couldn’t see the plate underneath. Best burger and fries I’ve ever had. Guy F. needs to feature it on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.
We ate at an “unlimited fries” place. My wife’s burger came with fries. I had a Cobb salad, no fries. We didn’t even finish the first serving of fries.
A lot of those places are using smaller plates (saucers) to give you a false impression.. same as they do with the hamburger buns.. smaller so the meat and extras spill out..

unlike fast food restaurants, regular restaurants really need to watch their portion sizes when it comes to the fries; so much starch and carbs

Overloading is just waste. Was taught to only take what you can eat so you don’t throw food away ;-)

Well, I always “overload” at least three plates (salad, entree and dessert) and then clean them all up.

Some restaurants give you a little entre covered with bunch of fries.

Some restaurants give you a little entre then cover it with fries. It looks like you are really getting money’s worth.

restaurants make good money on fries. potatoes and grease are so much less per pound than beef.

back in late 60’s went Texas Cattleman’s Association restaurant in Dallas. Steak served on wooden platter, falling over the edges.
