Insecure old white male CONservatives feel very threatened by a strong, smart, powerful woman of color. And well they should. She is going to play a prominent role in crushing their fragile, egocentric, misogynist little world of unearned privilege.
Ocasio-Cortez did make a mistake recently in a tweet about funding medical coverage, but she has used math (and separating used monies from unused) better on this topic before and since then, rather than doubling down on error. There is a lot of grace and logic in admitting mistakes and learning from them, so this is a comforting characteristic to see and I hope that it remains.
What many (most?) people do not know about her is that she is far more scientifically literate than most members of Congress. As a teenager she was a major winner (2nd place ISEF Intel in the field of microbiology) in one of the largest (perhaps THE largest?) international science fair, and as that she even has her name in an unexpected place, with an asteroid named after her:
