From what I’ve heard and read, it’s the conservative side of the Democrats that are working against Pelosi’s selection. They apparently feel that she would make compromises with the progressives.
When a person is elected to the House, they have two years to get reelected. That means that they really have just got a toehold into federal politics. And, very little time to try to do something with it. Everyone who currently holds a house seat is looking for something to make that toehold a bit firmer, and every one of the them would be much more comfortable if they had the speaker’s spot to achieve that goal. Pelosi will get the speaker’s spot, unless there is someone in the congress who could use that job on their resume to run for president, and I don’t know who the Democrats would agree to vote for to give them that advantage.
Stantis needed to put a windmill in the picture for Nancy to “tilt” at… Any legislation that originates in the House – be it to impeach anyone, raise taxes, or resurrect Obamacare – will fall dead at the doorstep of the Senate. This will be the biggest Gridlock session of congress on record!
FALSE – the Dems that are trying to get a different Speaker are to the RIGHT of Pelosi. When they signed the pledge not to support Pelosi, they didn’t have any candidate in mind; it is pretty easy to be against something or someone when you don’t bother to find an alternative. Look how well the “party of NO” did with majorities in both sides of Congress.
Marcia Fudge dropped out and backs Pelosi, along with Ocasio-Cortez and other progressives.
Curious way to represent the most effective Speaker since Sam Rayburn, Scott, who has held her party together through the many years that she’s had no real authority. And Mrs Pelosi’s opponents for Speaker have yet to say a single constructive thing about what (or whom) they want in her stead. “She’s too old” is not a program or a policy. Some “conservatives” predict (or hope) that the Democrats in the House will run around like headless chickens conducting random fishing expeditions; under a weak and inexperienced Speaker, it’s a too-believable prediction, but if Mrs Pelosi is Speaker, no such thing will happen.
Most of the newly elected more progressive candidates favor Pelosi. The group in opposition is older, whiter, and almost entirely male. Those of us who tend to lean toward rationality and helping those who need it very much need to not let right wingers tell us what we’re fighting about. We are not fighting!

At least impeachment of Il Douche and Pence looks not only palatable, but viable now!

And she’ll herd the cats and get it done. That’s why the GOP is so afraid of her. And that’s what I want, someone they’re afraid of.

I don’t like political parties, but I believe that the House will reflect real American values with Pelosi as speaker.

Politics is the art of compromise. Something Republicans have forgotten.

Nancy’s depicted way too young.

Stantis is merely echoing GOP propaganda — the last two GOP House Speakers are midgets compared to Pelosi!

Republicans operate in lock step.
They hate it whenever Democrats are unified about anything.
