There’s a typo in the German headline: the correct spelling is “wie”, not “vie” (even if the latter form correctly indicates the pronunciation to an English-speaking reader).

P.S. Merkel is not resigning her position as German Chancellor, she is simply not going to continue as leader of the CDU party when the party elects new leadership next month.
