The problem isn’t any particular decision such as Roe vs. Wade. The problem is the contamination of the judicial branch with rank partisanism and the consequent loss of faith in the last major institution of government. We have already seen it in the low evaluation of the legislative branch and the shredding of the dignity of the executive. That’s 3 for 3 now, folks, and we’re in deep trouble unless a miracle happens—-and in science we don’t expect miracles to answer our problems. Of course, this will all be moot in about 20 years with climate disruption globally. I don’t expect to be here to see it, but a lot of you will.
