If someone had told me what Ivan said in the first panel when I was his age, I wouldn’t have thrown rocks. I’d have run away. Heck when I was 12 and 13 there was this house I had to walk by on my way to and from school that looked like it was a witches house and I always walked a little faster when I went by it. Eventually the folks who lived there moved out and the place became less scary. And I did find out that before it was a house it was an old school building. But the folks that were living there at the time really had the place look creepy.

Love that Ivan does exactly what he claims “those kids” do. Love the Ivan the Terrible joke.

The lesson of The Scarlet Letter notwithstanding, I think he should be made to wear (for, say, a day) a shirt labeled l’enfant terrible … though he’d probably be proud to do so. I love that the French have such a lovely go-to expression. I love this comic series. I wonder if Ivan was doing a little spell-casting here himself. Ah, well. Let the one without (?) sin cast the first spell. Or stone, as here.

Did I say I love this series?

Spreading rumors and throwing rocks at your own family. Sounds like Ivan needs some time scrubbing out the cauldron after a nasty spell to think about his misdeeds.

I think Ivan takes after his grandfather a little too much… Whispering in people’s ears to manipulate them (possibly with some magic invoved) and have them do what he wants sounds pretty Rasputin-y.
