There was an overlook point in NAS Cubi Pt. Philippines that overlooked the runway and the harbor in Subic Bay. I often rode my bike to work and would see a lone rider sitting at the overlook looking out over the bay. I often thought it was probably the only peaceful part of his day. I would occasionally stop and sit with him, we never spoke, but it was very peaceful.
I do wonder sometimes…what exactly is Rose doing when she mentally roars off on her bike? Would passersby stop and stare at the woman squatting in place, her eyes closed and her hands gripping invisible handlebars?

Get your motor runnin’
Head out on the highway
Lookin’ for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin’ go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space

Inside each of us is that other we might have been. Occasionally it arises just under the surface and we remember.

Let’s get lost, feel like driving out of my mind
Wheels on fire, see those dust clouds rising up to the sky
You don’t know the way that you got me feeling
Everyone around is wheeling and dealing
Endless freeway, cruising down the line on Highway 69
