Ike was SO RIGHT…“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist.” Jan. 17, 1961
You know, if terrorists wouldn’t terrorize, if murderers wouldn’t murder, if thieves wouldn’t thieve, this world would be great and the governments which hold us down would collapse. No need for them at all. That will never happen because the human animal is too stupid to change their ways. Too greedy
^Homo sapiens is a social species. As a social species, that means individuals lives in groups with cooperative social structures, and government is such a social structure. Without such structures, the species would not have developed civilization or any of the technological advances that have made us the dominant species on the planet. Without such structures, life would be short and brutal for all. Take your choice. There is a point to be made that we have advanced in recent centuries (see Pinker, “Enlightenment Now”), which is not to say that we shouldn’t try to continue to advance, but it won’t happen without mechanisms such as governments to coordinate the process.
And now with more Fronts than ever before, so we will need a bigger military force than ever before. And equipped with expensive materiel that the military doesn’t even want. Including “advanced technology” that is obsolete by the time it’s in the hands of the warriors, but still costs $megabuks because contracts never die.
Funny how so many congressional Democrats voted in favor of the military spending boost Trump wanted without demanding to know how Trump was going to pay for it, but want to know how progressives will pay for the social spending that would actually benefit voters.
If you haven’t already read “War is a Racket” by USMC Gen. Smedley Butler, you should. Served his country proudly, then retired and continued his lifetime of public service in the government. There he found out how corrupt and war-mongering our elected leaders truly are. We need to hear from more like him.
All so we can go to new countries, meet new people, and kill them. While our dominance proves we can bring “democracy”, no matter how many terrorists we create, by destroying their nations and leaving them in chaos. We do NOT spend on defense, we spend on WARS! Not even a decent empire, we ARE the enemy.

“We don’t even have to declare war, we can stay in Afghanistan and bomb it as long as we like,” says the deep state.

but we are running a $900B deficit per year due to the tax cuts. It is all on the Visa card. No worries.

Uncle Sam is addicted to the war machine, as long as every Congressman gets his beak wet….

Plenty good money to be made while supplying the army with the tools of its trade.
