I’m wondering if Payne thinks that Mueller should only investigate the charges of collusion and ignore everything else. Which to me would be like a police officer responding to a domestic dispute and ignoring the guns and drugs on the kitchen table because that wasn’t why he/she was called there.
In a New England state, some years ago, the Feds had a warrant to wiretap a city mayor in a financial corruption investigation. Unbelievably, the wiretap turned up evidence that the mayor was paying a woman who was trafficking her own daughter into forced prostitution and child pornography. The Feds acted immediately, and the mayor remains in jail today. Nobody complained that the Feds had gone outside the scope of their investigation. Crime is crime.
I just can’t subscribe to the republican idea that enabling/tolerating unethical or illegal actions is somehow patriotic nowadays. We are Americans…we are supposed to be better than that.
