If priests could marry, the priesthood would draw more normal men [and women!], instead of the pedophiles. It is also time to end the patriarchal system and open everything to women. However, the best possible solution is do away with organized religion. I feel sure that the majority of religious leaders know that they are selling nonsense to a gullible public.
300 priests raping 1,000 children by Catholic priests in a single state, with a massive, coordinated institutional cover-up, and it is called “child sexual abuse.” It is rape.
Can you imagine what people would be calling for if they found 300 Imams of a Muslim sect had raped 1,000 children by a Muslim mosque in a single state?
Total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the country!
How about a total and complete shutdown of the Catholic child sex trafficking crime ring. Turns out the real child sex trafficking crime ring wasn’t Hillary in a D.C. pizzeria.
The most horrendous thing they did is give a special cross to the children that were abused so other priest knew they were subservient. Left the Catholic Church after these reports came out years ago. They will be judged at their time. I hope they all burn in HELL.
What does being married have anything to do with it? Rape is degradation, rape is power over someone weaker, rape is not sex or love. I would love to know how many of those priests were homosexual. Pedophiles are not all homosexuals.
Bottom Line: I have read the Bible. The Bible, pushing God’s word condemns rape, declares same sex copulation as not just a sin, but an abomination, totally condemns sex with children and child rape as abominations along with numerous other abominations.
Yet, Those perverted “priests” claim to “teach about God,” “represent God,” and lead in “worshiping God.” I would not envy the final judgement, those priests will receive.
At minimum, Read the Ten Commandments in Leviticus and read The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7.
@Amethyst52: The reason so many people think that allowing married people to be priests is because they believe that limiting the priesthood (which is supposed to be a respected leadership position, whose occupants are to be trusted) inadvertently served to allow that position to be attractive to pedophiles. The reality is, married men can also be pedophiles, just as they can go out of their home and rape women, or beat and rape the woman they are married to. Years ago, only women were allowed to be public school teachers (based partly on the erroneous idea that a man who wanted to teach children had an unacceptable interest in children, bu mostly based on the idea that working with kids was not only ‘naturally women’s work’ (and therefore deserving of lesser pay), but also that women would automatically be good at teaching and kind to the kids. Anyone who was beaten by a female teacher in grade school (not just in Catholic school) would tell you otherwise…
What is frightening to consider is that this only involves Pennsylvania! We have yet to hear from the rest of the nation and it will be cataclysmic! People should worship as they see fit but religious organizations should be taxed like any other corporation (except for charitable organizations that may have religious ties – but even then they should be audited regularly) otherwise there is no true separation of church and state. Seriously, when these hypocritical evilegical Poohbahs BRAG about god rewarding them with not one, not two, but THREE jets to preach the Gospel and they show no compunction! Something is definitely rotten in the State of Christianity (with apologies to Bill Shakespeare)…
