What? The whole pocketwatch deal is probably about as traditionally British as you could get! Why would he have a problem with that?

Wearing the Jack as a waistcoat and carrying a pocket watch, clap him in irons! Look mate, that didn’t work with your generation and it won’t work with his. You’ll just be a scary joke in the loo. And that will be your legacy.

I thought the waistcoat and pocket watch combo was Edwardian, which is the look that the Teddy Boys wanted to imitate. I don’t remember Mods with either waistcoats or pocket watches, back in the 1960s! (The oher boy’s tight jacket and the girl’s “Twiggy” eyes were pretty authentic Mod looks, though.)
