The GOP isn’t racist. But all racists are aligned with the GOP, it has been said. Why was it again that rethuglicons hate Romney’s health care - the system that is in the process of being adopted nationally? For me, Obama hasn’t been a standard bearer since his dealings with the sugar industry as a senator from Illinois were revealed - just another political hack. Bright, though.

As most would agree, racist like stupid people are generally conservative - it is in their nature. since the conservative(GOP) party would therefore have the greater number of stupid and racist citizens it follows that the GOP is the stupidest and most racist party … I fail to see why this fact should disturb conservatives since it often guarantees a substantial majority at election time. sincerely –

Beats me. The one change I can find is that before the US had a president who was unwilling to compromise with the majority unless he had 60% of the bargain, and now now it has a president who is unwilling to compromise with the (former) minority unless it gets at least 60 % .

Oh yeah, and more kids get healthcare. Such controversial and unamerican hogwash got the vetohammer during the last administration.

It’s beginning to look as if the GOP has a mole sitting in the Oval Office. I can see he’s accomplished a lot of good, but after this last tax deal it seems as if the Republicans can’t get their plans passed because they’re too obnoxious, so Obama is smoothing the way for them.

You guys aren’t looking at the big picture. Leaving things exactly as they are… i.e. providing new tax cuts [extensions] in addition to those he’s already provided through the Stimulus bill, is going to create a rush of new jobs. Just wait, come January 1, unemployment is suddenly going to drop to like … 0%, because of all of these tax cuts. Tax cuts obviously create jobs. *

I don’t think it’s Michelle, but the business guy’s wife. Ted would have given Michelle the same color as Barack.

While I generally disagree with the GOP politically, I don’t think they have cornered the market on racists. They are just more outwardly racist, and primarily white so it is more noticeable.

Jade, if you had stopped typing after your first sentence you would have been correct. Obama did the right thing, as he has done continually as President and will continue to do. sorry if he is not an idealist, but we can’t have idealism in the office of the Presidency, nor can we have someone who does not listen to others. The disaster of Bush’s presidency is wholly not in evidence with Obama - here is a man who listens to opinions and chooses the best course. In my view, this is EXACTLY what we need. As for the Gitmo situation, I don’t know what to say - I suppose I wish it were closed down and due process more in evidence, but I also think if my job were the defense of the people of this huge country I might see things differently.

Are you telling me the tax cut extensions AREN’T going to create a whole slew of new jobs? We were told that we had to extend them for EVERYONE because that was the case.

He acts weak because people with all the money are blackmailing him. Who knows what kind of threats they pose for him and for us if we all try to unify against the GOP ! That’s irresponsible speech that makes liberals look stupid (to neutral people, not righties) Most of the american anti-black racists are with the american right (as of 2010, pre 1960, it was the other way around), but there are many kinds of racism.

All this controversy, bickering, etc., which is allowed by our great nation, is what keeps our knowledge where we need it in order to make changes to keep our nation afloat. Keep it up……it’s like a healthy heartbeat!

You know, an editorial cartoon is not a medium of complex information, but it need not be as simplistic as Ted Rall’s cartoons often are. President Obama has hardly “always surrendered”. Indeed, Congress, despite opposition by most Republicans, just repealed, as Obama wanted, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.

Over these last two years, Obama saved the nation from a depression, and his recent compromise to extend Bush-Dick’s tax cut for the rich will help the economy recover more quickly.

Rabbit, where is your evidence that “[w]e are still torturing people”? How do you know that your “phone is tapped? And how, exactly, should Obama stop Wal-Mart from asking employees to “snitch”?

Mnsmkd, it is undeniable that a vast majority of the nation’s racists vote Republican or for a regressive candidate—those who can find their way to the polls, that is. Look at the racists in our forum. They are consistently Republican, Libertarian, or in other regressive camps. Look at the new senator from Kentucky: a tea-bag of a racist.

If Americans were willing to work for 50 cents an hour, there’d be plenty of jobs.

Rickoshays FIRST post was great but went downhill from there. We must be about the same age and live in the South and had similar experiences along the way.
