    Yep, hurtling through space at speeds that would be dangerous here on Earth, and we as planets are among the slower-moving objects in the cosmos. It is extraordinary to contemplate.

    I recall it being said 1,000 miles an hour or so. NOW if you suddenly stopped the spinning everything would still be moving at rotation speed. Faster at the equator and slower at the poles.
