Pence is actually the “Mommy” to Trump, the same as Nancy was to Ronnie: the exact same braindead adoring looks at him no matter what lies or idiocies he happens to be spouting. (You’ll notice that Melania has FAR too much self-respect for that! Can you imagine Pence putting Trump’s hand on his heart during the playing of Trump’s former country’s national anthem, the way Melania did?)
