You call Venezuela a socialist country but it is not. It is only what the right nuts imagine socialism to be. If you want an example of an actual well functioning socialist country looks like, check out Sweden.

What Trump wants is a fascist dictatorship and life term. Well, he’s earning the life term, in Leavenworth.

What Amerika wants is a completely distorted view of reality and a total absence of critical thinking. That way people will continue to buy any old bill of goods the corporate shills will sell them.

“Socialism is evil”; case in point.

She didn’t say that. Did you even watch her interview. She was speaking of people’s needs, not some political concept. Distortion is the tool of the ignorant. Trump uses it to please his base in his political reality show. He doesn’t care about people, his wife’s jacket message made that abundantly clear. But it’s not just migrants, he doesn’t care about minorities, about the poor getting health care, about anyone other than himself, in fact.

Mr. Ramirez doesn’t seem to know the difference between socialism and social justice.

Too many right wing trolls have spoiled this broth. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I just had breakfast and want to keep it down.

Ramirez obviously spent his time in class doodling portraits of Ayn Rand and Vladimir Lenin instead of paying attention to political variations in the political spectrum.

Ocasio Cortez says quite clearly that she favors Democratic Socialism, not Socialism, and she explains the difference, but I guess that’s beyond Ramirez’s comprehension. Or else he’s deliberately distorting. He wouldn’t do that, would he?

Venezuela is a dictatorship build on a cult of authoritarianism. It’s similar to what trump would like. First Chavez, now Maduro. Both authoritarian dictators with no political philosophy except authoritarian power.

Oh, and Russia and North Korea are similar authoritarian regimes.

The poor, sad, duped Americans who are so ignorant of political philosophy they yell out “socialism!!!” as though they understood the term.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, although wasting a conscience is even worse, which is how the cynical dystopian dream of the regressives came to be.

No knowledge. No facts. No conscience.

Don’t forget trump LOVES the uneducated. And that love is returned to him. Just look at the regressive comments here.

So that’s what has Trump ticked off about Venezuela, the incessant demand for toilet paper.

Complete fabrication. Democratic socialism is what Ocasio-Cortez is promoting. This compares with what Norway has, and it incorporates support for all people for healthcare, food supply and education. Pure capitalism focuses on profits over people which results in shorter lifespans with more illnesses, poor education unless you can pay for it and an environment turned over to fossil fuel interests and other “developers”.

Socialism: A political and economic system in which underachievers forcibly redistribute their mediocrity to the rest of society.

Funny stuff. Turns out she…ahem…padded her resume. Actually stripped out the padding.

what Americans want is for government to “do more” – this is what the GOP calls “Socialism”.

Despite having the largest proven oil reserves in the world, Venezuela is fast running out of cash, and its people have struggled for years. Venezuela is in crisis, and there is no simple solution to the country’s woes. The country only has $10.5 billion in foreign reserves left, according to recent Central Bank of Venezuela data. For the rest of the year, Venezuela owes roughly $7.2 billion in outstanding debt payments.resident Donald Trump has not said much publicly about the crisis in Venezuela. In the early days of his presidency, he tweeted a photo of himself with Lilian Tintori, the wife of opposition figure Leopoldo Lopez. In the tweet, Trump called for Venezuela to release its political prisoners. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told reporters the United States was “concerned that the government of Maduro is violating its own constitution and is not allowing the opposition to have their voices heard, nor allowing them to organize in a way that expresses the views of the Venezuelan people.” Even the Vatican has gotten involved in the Venezuela crisis. Pope Francis sent an envoy to Caracas to mediate talks between the opposition and the government in 2016. While those talks failed, Francis said he is willing to meet with the opposing parties to help resolve the conflict.

this has nothing to do with Ocasio-Cortez

Venezuela has historically been controlled by an oligarchy in which the elite few took the nation’s wealth only for themselves and left everyone else to survive on the crumbs dropped by the top. The crisis now is an outgrowth of that history in which the many are fighting for their share against the wealthy oligarchy.

Venezuela is not a socialist nation, it is an oligarchy. Ocasio Cortez is running on a platform of policies that are being put into practice in Europe, and have been for a long time now. Germany or France would be better countries to compare to Ocasio Cortez’s policies.

Only the “enlightened ones” in New York could buy into socialism. Expect the “enlightened ones” in California to follow suit.
