Donald Trump is enforcing an immigration law that President Bush signed into law in 1997, the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008. Children are separated if their parents are not present, if the child is in danger, or the parent is placed into criminal or asylum proceedings. Under the 1997 Flores Settlement while Bill Clinton was president children of illegal aliens cannot be held for more than twenty days. Children have to be released to proven relatives or foster care until their parents are processed. This did not seem to be an issue when Obama was president as photos taken during his administration have shown children in chain link cages.

All of these as an example as to image of having sole control and only he has control of the Senate as majority leader and only he is allowed to decide what is presented on the floor.

I saw Rachel Maddow break down last night when presented with news about the “tender age shelters” for babies and toddlers separated from parents. Yes, it is ugly! The only good news I see is that there are reports that trump administration and homeland security are beginning to rethink the separation policy. How stupid are these people to think that any of this made sense? Not only is it immoral, the optics of it are so ugly, and even from a labor and economic point of view— come on, let the parents stay with their babies and young children! If you have spent any time with young children, you know what their needs are! They can’t separate them and then have only a few government workers taking care of huge numbers of them. It doesn’t work to treat precious infants and young children like they are going out to feed the chickens. We are seeing very few pictures of them because they don’t want us to see the ugliness.

ANDY Where to you get your information that the children are arriving unaccompanied? Does any parent with a lick of sense send a two-year old off into the unknown alone? NPR said there is gofundme set up for getting separated kids legal counsel and means to get back with their families. They have collected about 15 million so far but it has to be spread out among a few thousand. They must keep going with this work to get these kids the help they need.
