    Cruel but effective I’d say.

Sounds like an idea that could have some modern applications.

I hope the poor bulls don’t hurt their hooves stomping on those guys’ heads! (Naaa, they’re pretty soft…)

Okay, just to get off on the wrong foot. I have nothing against hunting as long as folks eat what they shoot. And a lot of the animal rights protesters go after goofy stuff or are off in never-never land. BUT, there is merit to focusing on how the factory farm animals are treated. Not only is it more humane to treat our food animals well (which the factory farms typically don’t), but it’s healthier for us. If that makes me an animal rights protester, so be it. Having said that —— it would be kind of fun to do the running of the bulls!

I must call your attention to the domestic anamals that are commited to our keeping by the great author of our being. We are dependant upon them, for without their aid man (human) could never have risen from barberisem to civilization. Practice mercy and compation toward them, never over work, nor over load them, and guard against hast in reppemanding them.

No, cdward, that sounds like a very sensible point of view.

Had a few incidents 20 or so years ago where someone was sneaking into barns, three different ones I think, and contaminating the milk in the tank with antibiotics. Not only destroying the trailer load of milk, but endangering people who are allergic to penicillin (like my wife). Never found out who did it, but at the time PETA was making headines with some rather destructive acts.

I would rather see many smaller farms with their custodians taking better care of their crops and animals. But the trend is to larger ‘factory farms’ for economic reasons. When I came onto the farm in the mid 70’s, there were about 150 dairies in our county. Now there are about 85 in all of NJ. We quit because we were tired of getting paid $12.50 for milk that cost us $13.00 to produce.

RCMinor: wouldn’t it be nice if PETA would protect people, too?
