Sophie’s choice was about a gut-wrenching choice made my a woman in one of Hitler’s death camps. What does it say that, under the brutal cruelty of the Trump tyranny, policies are now creating similar harsh choices.
Ripping screaming children, some as young as one year, from the arms of their terrified parents began under TRUMP and is utterly unprecedented and a viciously, maliciously cruel CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.
This is not about children of parents who sneaked across the border illegally, nor are they the UNACCOMPANIED minors that were coming here in large numbers in 2014.
These are children of parents who went to legitimate border crossings, official points of entry, and presented themselves to border officers as refugees requesting asylum. This is a standard, LEGAL procedure, and such parents have NEVER been separated from their children before, ever. Even if they were detained for during adjudication, previously the families were kept intact.
I missed the part of the news where countries bordering the US were in a state of war and the residents had to flee to the US. Is it because Canada didn’t win the Stanley Cup?
Didn’t anyone else catch Mr. Sessions quoting the Bible to support this policy? Citing the second chapter of Nehemiah of the Old Testament in support because Yaweh ordered rebuilding of the walls around Jerusalem (nothing to do with the immigrant children, but a really cool “wall” reference), but then moving on to Romans 13 of the New Testament because enforcement of the law came from “the powers that be are ordained of God” (Romans 13:1, KJV). So he’s only doing God’s work, don’t you see.
Those of you who are Christians, what does Christianity mean to you? Does it mean that you use the Bible to justify separating parents from their children? If it doesn’t, if it’s offensive to you to have Sessions and Sanders use the Bible to justify this action, then what are you going to do about it? Perhaps you could encourage your priest or minister to say something this Sunday.
I believe we should welcome them. Unless they are violent, they should have a right to come here. Our ancestors were illegal immigrants who did not hesitate to kill and/or run off the native inhabitants. Maybe that is why we are so afraid of these folks. God will remember how we treat our neighbors…….and yes, they are our neighbors!
Asylum is about war and/or political persecution. Not local crime problems.
I’m sorry you have criminal gangs that make life miserable, but that is NOT a political persecution issue.
I’m sorry you have poverty, high unemployment and no running water, but that is NOT a political persecution issue.
The vast majority seeking “asylum” are seeking only to use our catch and release system to get into the US and disappear. The overwhelming majority of asylum seekers never show up for their hearings.

Until now.

Now we have to etch the word “don’t” in front of every line in the poem on Ellis Island.

Even the HATER Franklin Graham says he’s appalled. I think he is just saying that because he is supposed to be a Christian.

Go to Canada, they are the bright shiny city on the hill now that Trumpublicans have turned America into a GOP Hole.

If this really is about safety why aren’t they stopping in Mexico? They’re not at war with anyone.

Republicans only care about children in the womb – after that they are expendable

We should take pity on the war torn multitude and offer refuge.

A little off topic but I felt the need to share this with fellow political cartoon followers.

A vile comparison, and totally inaccurate.
