Exactly!

My cat doesn’t drink from toilets! In fact, she needs her water bowl refreshed twice daily!

My cat will only drink from a running faucet. I turn the bathtub faucet on a small trickle and he jumps into the tub and drinks. Always gets some down the wrong pipe and keeps acting like he is throwing up a hairball but nothing come up.

that’s a dog’s trick

I leave water out in a big paper cup for a scrawny old feral tomcat who likes to hide in my yard.

He was trying to drink from muddy plant saucers.

I can tell he doesn’t like bottled water, only tap water…. preferably from the garden hose.

I put out a fresh cup if it gets dirty or falls over… but he’ll hardly drink it while it’s too clean…

maybe there are traces of chlorine or something in fresh tap water.

He waits till it’s been sitting out a couple of days to drink deeply.

And they say beggars can’t be choosers.

In dry weather all kinds of critters visit our landscape pond – from deer to chipmunks. I had to install a chicken wire “ladder” for the wee chipmunks that fell in. I was constantly topping it off. They didn’t seem to mind the human chemicals. Neither did the regions that used to empty the cat’s drinking water. :o)

I always wonder about dogs’ exquisite sense of smell whenever my lab shows up with kitty litter stuck to his nose.

I thought cats were trainable to use the toilet for its real purpose. Maybe if they did they would choose not to drink there too. Or not.

I figure cats must just be horrified at the disgusting way we treat those perfectly nice water fountains. And don’t even get them started on the bathing with water, when we have perfectly good tongues!

Cats outside during rain get all matted and miserably wet. Poor Things.
