While sad that despair could overtake those in privilege, seeing no way other than the ultimate exit is, in reality, the ultimate right.Same way with drug overdoes, IMHO.
I have found something that really helps. It’s called HU, pronounced like the color hue and you sing is gently like HUUUUUUU. It’s a love song to God or whatever you want to call It. A love song to all life. It enhances life.
I think one of the reasons it is getting worse is due to our environment. The media is struggling to survive so all we see is the dramatic stories that feature death, destruction. and scandal. We have a sleeze ball as president who lies, abuses and insults people everyday. Our comedy entertainment lives of off color jokes and demeaning portrayal of people, and finally social media show the “wonderful life and good food” we are missing out on. It really is a very depressing time in our history. We don’t have much in the way of leadership and inspiration to motivate us.
From what I’ve been reading the suicide rate has increased by 30% since 1999. I haven’t had a chance to delve into the reasons for this phenomenon. That’s in my near future.
There is no adequate mental or physical health care in this country unless you pay thru the nose for it. Some day we will have health care for all and become an actual first world country instead of half of the population going bankrupt over medical bills.
As many advertised prescription medications caution about feelings of depression and suicide, might the problem be lack of vitamins , chemical or hormonal? (as well as economic despair and other influences)

The nation’s odd mix of privilege, and abandonment. Either never enough or drowning in too much.

In this “Christian” society, there is no forgiveness. The more right-wing society has gotten, the more it does away with that concept.
