When we got engaged I bought (now) husband a Beta player as an engagement gift. He could tape shows that I was missing while at law school at night.
We still have Beta and VHS (bought several later on) tapes as well as DVDs – wayyy too many DVDs. They are all still watchable. Unfortunately our cable co made it impossible to tape anything in any format as their box can no longer be set to go on and off with a timer – and if an external timer is used, the programing is erased when the power is shut off.

A first edition/unedited “E.T.” might actually be worth something.

Like cassette tapes, VHS tapes are subject to degrading and sticking to themselves over time.

I’ve got a nice little collection of VHS tapes, Ben. Give me a call and we’ll negotiate.

I have a lot of VHS movies that I can’t play. I really would like to find a way to get them onto dvd without having to buy the whole collection again.
