On this day, and at this time, I put politics and pundits aside, and remember only that “greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for another.” Requiescat in pace.
I’m watching our local MLB team play. They and their opponent have camo on their hats and uniforms. Stop it. Just stop it.
Memorial Day is not a day to honor the military—which is what all that olive green is about. It is a day to remember the fallen. As a retired military officer, I’d just as soon you forget about those of us who are alive, and instead remember and be grateful to the ones who have fallen.
As for politics, it can wait for another day. Thanks, Lisa. We don’t agree on much, but we agree on this.
As a disabled survivor, like my son many years later in even stupider , the worst, wars started by Cheney, Rumsfeld, and GW Moron, please note that Memorial Day, every year, my worst day, is for those of our friends who died. VETERANS DAY is for those of us who survived. BTW; NOT ONE SOLDIER EVER “GAVE” his life, it was taken, stolen, or ripped.
SFCGATOR the ACA helped over 400,000 veterans get health benefits they previously couldn’t get. Obama helped them and now Trump is erasing those veteran’s health care. Your hate rhetoric smells to high heaven! www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2017/04/19/524751540/many-veterans-gained-health-care-through-the-afordable-care-act

We need another war with either Iran or NKorea so that we can have lots more dead heroes to honour.

I think it’s sad that Monday is, for many people, National Car Sales Day, or National Barbeque Day. Sad.

I guess I just realized that this holiday is the equivalent of our Remembrance Day. Here is my favourite poem to honour that day.

And it’s not “In Flanders Fields.”
