The NO’s have it: NO! That wasn’t unbreakable. . .NO! I don’t have $17.35 in change for that $20. . .NO! I won’t take $.50 for that $50 clock. . .NO! As is where is, no returns. . .NO! I don’t need coffee, I need my head examined for doing this. . .

My brother loves going to them. He just got some fancy dolls for $3 apiece. They still had $65 stickers on them. Then he sells them on ebay.

I’d like to start a web site called yardsale.com. For a small fee, you get to post your yard sale. People sign in and enter their zip code and how many miles they are willing to travel and a date and it will list the yard sales for that date within your area.

Problem is as soon as I do it, one of the biggies (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft …) will simply open their own and plow me under.

When I lived in New Jersey we were four blocks down the street from a group of office buildings who would have dumpsters full of file cabinets and other office furniture and electronics. I would load up my van at night and refurbish the cabinets and sell them in a garage sale every few months. I even found a perfectly good HP Laser printer .I never made less than two or three hundred dollars at a time the best sale was almost five hundred dollars.

If it were only my neighbors and friends, that would be cause for a cookout, sell anything or not. But, the ‘dawn arrivers,’ the ‘professional rubberneckers’, the ‘quality critics’, and the ‘light-fingered specialists’ – we get them all here – make the day much longer and more tedious than fun. Years ago we pared down our holding to the ‘useful’ and ‘comfortable’ and let the rest go to charities or the dump. Much quieter weekends.
