And that is the ONLY REASON that any gun exists. TO KILL THINGS! Period!

The picture only represents a smallish portion of a “modern gun nut” collection.

What’s the big deal? Firearms, cannon, etc were originally invented as weapons of war. With some exceptions for specialized hunting and target weapons, the primary purpose of a gun is as a weapon for use against humans. In war, in self defense, and sadly, in crime.

Folks act like this is some sort of epiphany.

The NRA and their ilk say that kids killed are only statistics and don’t matter. Their supporters, like Putin, say that American children are not important and their death is immaterial.

Oliver North thinks it will make a dandy new motto for the NRA.

Let me point to the biggest difference between Europe and America, when it comes to guns. America has the 101st mass-shooting this year, it’s the 16th in a school. Europe don’t even had that much mass-shootings in the last 20 years combined, terrorism activities included.

Every firearm should have strong warning labels about dangers (like cigarettes). But “BORN TO KILL” is certainly over the top.

    Guns don’t kill people.

People pushing bullets through other people by hand kill people.

A sporting goods store near me actually has big yellow tags affixed to the trigger guard of every firearm which reads, in BIG RED letters; “WARNING! MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!” I’m not sure which saddens me the most; the fact that they’re on guns which have no other purpose than to cause serious injury or death, OR that some people might need to be reminded that a gun has no other purpose.

Basis for the Second Amendment is the Virginia Declaration of Rights: “Section 13. That a well-regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that in all cases the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.”

The purpose of the Second Amendment was repealed over time and had essentially vanished by WW-I. It’s purpose was to “provide for the common defense” without recourse to those hallmarks of tyranny: conscription, mercenaries, or a standing army. The solution, as stated in the ignored first part, was “a well-regulated militia”. The “problem” with that is that it is a defensive system and you can’t build an empire minding your own business.

That is why those favoring an imperialist military dictatorship for this country’s government try to reduce plain language to gobbledygook.

Yes, a gun is a weapon designed to kill, just as a hammer is a tool for driving nails. I fail to see the point of your cartoon other than to stir up crap.

Hippo, the Virginia Constitution was by no means the basis for the 2nd, not the sole basis at any rate. Madison’s original draft is below.

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country; but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person.”

However this was rejected and the clause was amended because it was feared it could be misinterpreted as the means by which the populace could be disarmed.

“This declaration of rights, I take it, is intended to secure the people against the maladministration of the Government; if we could suppose that, in all cases, the rights of the people would be attended to, the occasion for guards of this kind would be removed. Now, I am apprehensive that this clause would give an opportunity to the people in power to destroy the Constitution itself. They can declare who are those religiously scrupulous and prevent them from bearing arms.” – Elbridge Gerry, House of Representatives, Amendments to the Constitution 17, Aug. 1789

You present just another cookie cutter anti-gun distortion of the founder’s intent.
